Duties and responsibilities: Assist with answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls. Works under the direction of the Director of Communications or Dispatch Supervisor

Salary: These dispatchers earned a median annual salary of $36,300 as of May 2012, the BLS reports.  

Education: Requires a high school diploma with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
